Zvratné zámená v angličtine sú:

JEDNOTNÉ ČÍSLO

1. myself
2. yourself
3. himself, herself, itself

MNOŽNÉ ČÍSLO

1. ourselves
2. yourselves
3. themselves

Tieto zvratné zámená používame v podobných prípadoch ako keď v slovenčine povieme “sa”, “si” alebo, že niečo robíme sami sebe resp. sami bez pomoci. V angličtine sa to používa menej často ako v slovenčine; nie všetko čo je “sa” alebo “si” potrebujeme preložiť pomocou zvratných zámen.

Napríklad:

I can do it myself. = Ja to viem urobiť sám.

I wash myself. = Umyjem sa.

I said to myself. = Povedal som sám sebe. Tak som si povedal.

You have to take care of yourself. = Musíš sa o seba postarať.

He was talking to himself. He is crazy. = Rozprával sa sám so sebou. Je to blázon.
